Quake represents change. Change to improve! Quake is bursting with energy and that’s what we will show you the upcoming time! Prepare for a series of interviews with people who work on Quake passion. They believe we hold the key to the future. Today, we kick off with an interview with the board of Quake: Janneke Colen and Rudi Roijakkers. On a summer morning, Janneke and Rudi are sitting in the garden at the office in Velp. Today we will talk about Quake. This sunny setting is a perfect fit because Quake gives energy and you notice that with Janneke and Rudi. Since the beginning of this year, Janneke and Rudi together form the board of Quake. Rudi was already a part of the board for a longer time and is next to that, advisor at Lüning. Janneke was already part of the steering committee of Quake and started in January as board member. Next to that, we also know Janneke as business and legal advisor at the Shared Service Center of Oosterhoff. Now they work together at Quake. Motivated, enthusiastic and sometimes with a bit of dry humor.
What does Quake mean?
We’re not starting with the easiest question: “What does Quake to mean to you”? Still, it doesn’t stay quiet for long. Enthusiastic reactions follow. For Janneke, Quake is a testing ground for all colleagues. “I see a change to try out new things together, to learn and to improve. Quake is a great place to meet other Oosterhoff colleagues and to work together on meaningful projects. It goes further than the usual daily practice. We learn a lot from each other.” Rudi continues: “All the innovations and new developments I see in engineering make me enthusiastic. As Oosterhoff colleagues, we answer the questions of tomorrow. We make this possible with Quake: You’re in contact with other people and you get to know each other. Quake is here to understand each other better, enlarge your network and have in impact on the social questions we stand for. That is also what we mean with our motto: ‘change to improve’.
Working on a Quake project
Quake is working on different themes: Data & Digital, Urban, Environment and Building Services & Physics. Next to that, we start partnerships via the groups Research and Collaborative Innovation. Rudi explains how people work within these themes: “We organize meetings on location. For all themes, people are involved because of their intrinsic motivation. They are curious about the theme and what they can learn and pitch in. In this setting we work on the long term.” Janneke tells that there are different types of employees involved at different moments for a Quake theme: “Someone from the organization has a innovative idea. With a short sprint the idea is elaborated until there is a first concept. After that, employees are added to the team. They bring the idea further and test it in practice. We use the knowledge we have gained in our projects.” Quake strives to have teams with colleagues who have different backgrounds and opinions. With a diverse mix of people from different working companies, knowledge fields, backgrounds, way of working and experience we can challenge each other. This way will come the furthest.
Making impact
Rudi and Janneke are proud of wat Quake has achieved already. Quake brings together employees on different subjects. In this cooperation knowledge has been developed and products were realised that are being used in projects. Do you want to know more? Get inspired at www.quake-innovation.eu/#/news. In the upcoming years, Rudi and Janneke want to make even more impact with Quake. Make a positive contribution to the social-cultural challenges around us. Challenges in the field of scarcity in housing, climate adaptation and energy transition. Together, we make sure Oosterhoff projects are even more sustainable, by sharing knowledge and implementing it in our projects. We change to improve.
