Doe&Durf is the competition in which young engineers have the opportunity to think borderless.

connECTOR offers a practical solution for circularity in construction, by preventing low-grade processing of typically troublesome materials such as flat glass and façade panels. The reuse potential is now mostly determined by quality and the energy and labor required for reuse. In addition, tighter regulations create standardization of design solutions. This quickly leads to uniformity, or boring buildings. Reuse of unique elements is therefore not possible. connECTOR ensures that these elements can be reused by means of a parametric connecting element and thus offers complete design freedom. connECTOR is parametrically designed so that the number of elements to be connected and the dimensions can be easily adjusted. connECTOR is offered as open source, making it accessible and optimizable for everyone. 3D printing allows the element to be printed on site from materials of your choice, including residual materials from demolition, but possibly also with biobased materials.

connECTOR capitalizes on current developments in construction. Digitization using material passports, BIM models and material banks, makes it possible to bring supply and demand together and combine the available components in a model. In addition, more and more high-quality building products are becoming available. Such as glass, which is currently poorly reusable. When a piece of glass has too low an insulation value, an additional layer of secondary glass can simply be added via connECTOR. connECTOR can be used not only for facade elements, but also, for example, for installation kits.

Construction is responsible for some 40-50% of material use, 20-40% of traffic flows and some 30-40% of waste in the Netherlands. connECTOR does its bit to reduce the impact of construction and ensure that architects retain their design freedom.
